Parody or...

...Great imitation of the humor and animation, it just needs your personal spin on the characters to a greater degree. They can look similar to the originals, but should look a lot wackier, so that just by looking at them, people know it's a parody and don't dismiss this as a copy-cat.

Making characters that are true mockeries of the originals and either perfecting your voice acting/having someone help with that might make this a real hit.

GarthHughes responds:

Yeah, I guess you're right. I could use a spin on the design. Make it more original... Still, I am pretty proud of it.

Yeah, on second thought, you DON'T wanna see them in my style. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Excellent

Thanks for an awesome blast from the past. Love the pixelly look and slow camera pans.

In order to make the text look a little more authentic, I suggest using a pixel font instead of the ComicSans font - (=

Nice esp. for beginning work.

When I read it was a beginner's work, I was thinking, 'here we go again,' but it was good!

It shows you gave a care about backgrounds and story flow. Not to be overly scientific, but in bee society, the males (drones) never work, they just sit around and chill. The way it should be ;)

As far as sound, I'm no expert, but getting a good microphone should eliminate the awful hissing/humming quite a bit. I bought a Blue Snowball mic, big improvement from my cheapo Logitech. You can also use your current software to fade out of audio clips softly so it's less jarring. You can go crazy with sound quality measures, but these two steps will help.

Keep it up...

Nice piece, polish it up next :D

I think it's great so far. Walk cycles must be kind of tricky when dealing with extinct reptiles.

By the way, I have Flash CS4, but I hate it and I never use it... I don't like what Adobe is doing to Flash! I use CS3... I'm sure there are a lot of CS4 fans that would disagree with me on that...

Keep up the nice work.

Evil-eS responds:

D8> but i only have CS4

An instant favourite

The animation does well what it was intended to do. Simple, original, to the point and entertaining...

The value in the humour revolves around a completely unexpected reaction, it doesn't have to be outrageous to work. The motion was exaggerated, fluid and fun, truly admirable. As for duration, a lot of non-animators will gripe about that because they don't have the insight or experience to consider how much time, talent and thought that goes into all this... (Especially with all the other pressures of life!) This isn't a sprite or stick figure animation, so don't expect an individual animator to keep you entertained for ten minutes.

Time to take a long break from all this and produce some more animation (^=

Billy-Chops responds:

Yeah except my break is only a day. I'm working on other stuff right now lol. I'm not posting any more of my portfolio work here, but I will post again once I have a full cartoon. I'm going to put more on my Deviantart and youtube, if you're interested there's a link to them on my Adult Swim cartoon. Thanks so much for the props buddy, see ya in the future!

Undeniably funny...

Even if I tried to hate this piece, I don't think I could. At first I was annoyed that it looped, but now I don't seem to mind so much...

On the real though, it shows skills and humor. Keep it up =)) I'd like to see more lengthy and maybe a bit more polished clips in the near future if possible.

Great job

It's not a super-polished style, but the skills are really there and your characters/antics/expressions are spot-on. I feel like I can pause the flash at any point in your animation and it's always hilarious. Also, great creative script and concepts.

My favourite part is when the hound-dog is doing the hip-hop moves and the princess is sitting there in utter horror.

Keep it up!

Simple but gr8

I'm appreciating the cool character design and the simplicity. The variety of creatures was great.

Now will someone kill that damn mosquito?!?!

gr8 work-

the drooling horse added just the right touch. then again the various styles of homes were interesting and the music was very calming after a long day. great work with the details!

Overall nice job

NICE!

The adjustments I'd like to recommend would be:

Finer/smoother lines in most places (Little more detail)
Not so loud colours (Too primary)
More refined graphics with the text and all.

But still keep it up, you're doing very well.
